I have been to the Planning Division three times in September and October. I talked to Bill and filed a complaint. It was still in the pile as of my last visit. I wrote to the mayor, and I was contacted by Lonell Butler in the Building Dept. Perhaps something is happening, but you sure can't see it from the street.

It seems this landlord is able to ignore our zoning laws. I have not seen any progress on this issue, and the single family home still has three mailboxes out front.

Can anyone explain what's happening in Vallejo? Even during bankruptcy, the city continued to be managed well and order was maintained. Now, with booming property sales -- and we assume, property taxes -- everything seems to be falling apart. City workers are fighting a rearguard action, while city management and council snooze.

Obviously, the Planning Department has shut down. They simply have more important business to pursue than serving the needs of Vallejo's citizens. Does anyone know what it takes to get a foot through the door at the Planning Department?

Hard to believe this is still an open issue, would have expected that Code Enforcement or Building Division would have "closed" it and swept under the rug by now. No accountability in our City Government. Hate to ask. Have you followed up with Mr. Butler?

This single family home, in a single family residential zone, was illegally converted into a triplex over a year ago. Starting last August, I contacted the planning department multiple times, the building department, and the mayor's office, to no avail. I don't see why anyone would bother getting a building permit in Vallejo if nothing gets enforced.

On the contrary, looks like you can build anything you want, without getting approval permits or anything.

Indeed, the only people who do get attention from City Hall -- usually abusive and/or dismissive comments -- are the fools (yes, like me) who do apply for permits, and follow the rules.Ask around, ask your neighbors: how many say they had a good experience with the Planning Dept; how many say they'd have second thoughts about making home improvement if it involved getting city permits!

this is a far fetched idea, what about contacting Congressman Mike Thompson, he's our rep. Maybe he can help or put fire under their lazy
as tush; not sure, but worth a try.

It's the same old Vallejo quandary: at what point does flagrant incompetence become criminal negligence, and who will do anything about -- who oversees the overseers?

Haven't heard a word from the city for about a year, despite filing a complaint with the planning dept.

Have you tried to get in touch with the city attorney? If not- you might want to reach out to Eli Flushman. His email address is Eli.Flushman@cityofvallejo.net. He filed a lawsuit against Daisy V on our behalf and one of her buildings finally got demolished and we no longer see any squatters. He definitely follow up on everything, and even updated the process.

Have not heard a word from the city for about a year.

Looks to me that the only office that's still functioning in Vallejo City Hall is the Executive Compensation branch.

Right on the three-year anniversary of this post, we finally get an answer? So many issues posted like this.....
