I reopened this issue because it appears that you misunderstood the issue. I saw that the edges of the medians have been painted - that's good too, but that is not what needs to be repainted. The actual curbs of the street, alongside the easements of the homes (where cars actually park) were previously painted along the easements at least as far as the length of the stripes painted in the street. The No Parking paint was supposed to keep cars from parking along the street curbs too close to the median. Cars do not park by the median itself, they park along the curbs of the street. It is difficult to see where they were painted because they have faded so much now. I would appreciate it if you could revisit this issue. Thank you.

The damn "medians" or flower boxes need to be torn out on Darst. There was never enough room for them and several people have had accidents because they are there. They have been nothing but trouble and aggravation for many. Also, the flower boxes on Hartnett need to be taken out. They took away parking for many homeowners, as they are in front of their house. And people have had accidents with those as well. They were meant to be a traffics calmer, LOL, but are ugly and need to be removed. We want our STREETS back, we don't need these medians or flower boxes.

The boxes are not as wide as a car is from the curb, so they didn't slow nothing down. They still pass two cars wide there, so they didn't slow anybody down. It is VERY DANGEROUS, because nobody waits for their turn on a two lane road. This issue will not be resolved until those flower boxes/medians are removed.

I am the resident who originally posted this request and then reopened it. I saw that you (Ferguson) had painted the curb by one of the medians (the middle median). Thank you! Since you have not yet closed this issue, I hope I am correct in assuming that you plan to paint the curbs by the other 2 medians as well. The one closest to Hartnett has been the biggest problem and danger. I am mostly concerned about safety issues with regard to the medians and parking. I believe the medians were originally installed at the request of residents on Darst as a compromised means to slow traffic (because many did not want the street closed, as some had first requested). I do not live on Darst, but I do use it to slowly drive through to Elizabeth or N. Florissant, avoiding the difficult and unsafe left turn onto Chambers from Hartnett. Whether or not the medians remain is not the issue for me. I just want it to be safer and I figure painting some curbs is the simplest and cheapest way to accomplish that end. Thank you for addressing this issue and I hope the curbs by the other two medians will be painted as well as you have time and paint available. Thanks for all you do.

Painting these useless flower boxes you call medians will not solve the problem. They are still dangerous and cause more accidents than they help with safety, nor do they slow anybody down. The family that originally requested these "hazards" moved out shortly after they were installed. If Ferguson was smart, they would remove them.

I agree the medians present more of a traffic hazard than traffic calming. There is a curve for cars headed north on Hartnett and the median for cars turning south onto Hartnett from Darst, in close proximity, that creates a perfect opportunity for head on collisions. Not to mention the cars on Hartnett travel greater than the speed limit.

Thank you for painting the curbs! I know that this will not keep all people from driving on the wrong side, but it will hopefully lessen the number of incidents. I appreciate all that the staff does on behalf of the citizens. Thank you.
