Description
The newspaper boxes outside the laundromat are broken, filled with trash, and covered with graffiti. This is an excellent location for newspaper boxes, as the folks using the laundromat would buy newspapers to read while doing their laundry, so please don' t remove these boxes, just fix them and clean them of trash and graffiti and have the newspaper vendors actually fill them and make sure the coin changers work.

Thank you for your request concerning graffiti on public property. Your request has been forwarded to the appropriate Public Works staff for graffiti removal. If the request refers to graffiti that is on private property, the request will be recategorized and you will hear from our Community Development Department very soon. Abating this graffiti is the private property owner’s responsibility.
Public Works receives more than 1,000 requests per year to abate graffiti on public property. Given the volume of requests, we strive to abate graffiti within two weeks but, depending on the volume and other factors (e.g., incoming storms), it can take up to 30 days.
You will receive further communication if your request will take longer than this time to complete. If you should have any further questions please feel free to contact us again and reference this issue number.

I took it upon myself to call the number on the boxes and request that they be maintained. it turns out the telephone number (1-800-598-4637) goes to the East Bay Times, and they took a request for maintenance of this box. I don't know if this call will work, but I suggest other people call that number about the other newpaper boxes that are now just blight.
