Description
Apparently squatters behind this property and trash accumulation. The fence behind property is not properly closed or locked. This property has been a problem for years now. Front elevation still a disaster. Lots of drunks hanging around here in the lot as well during day. The street is getting worse and worse. How could we ever dream of redevelopment given the situation.

It is not See Click Fix fault if the city does not monitor this site or acknowledge issues. You are going to have to use the phone. You can call your alderperson, you would surprised what they can do, and also call the mayor's office 203 946-8200. Don't be shy and use the phone, the best communication tool ever invented.

I disagree, XYZ, an anonymous phone call is just that. The call could come from a disgruntled resident, a chronic complainer, or a political adversary. But an old fashioned letter the mayor can have results, sometimes immediately. There are any number of New Haven Twitter accounts and social media pages that people can use that are read by city officials.
People with concerns about issues should also subscribe to the Wooster Square Watch. They can air their concerns personally at a District Community Meeting. There's one coming up on Thursday evening, September 28 in the Community Room at the at 7:30 pm New Light High School at 21 Wooster Place. Our Alder will be there, as will Lt. Mark O'Neill, our new District Manager. The meeting concerns neighborhood security and safety, which is certainly the topic of this thread. A phone call is just a phone call. But although it takes more than lifting a phone to your ear, an involved resident can make a real difference.

The city has yet to acknowledge this post, in all likelihood they never saw it. Use the phone, then post, mention who you talked to and try to organize on this site.

Meeting are fine but a large amount of time can pass before there is one, You can send a letter but you do not know if it gets read. Like I posted before use the phone, the best communication tool ever invented.

City contacted directly many, many times by phone, meetings, etc. We do need to organize and have in the past. We are not a passive neighborhood.
Will talk to our Alder who DOES pay attention to all of these issues and has been very helpful in the past, and suggest we have a meeting specifically about Grand Ave's future- a timely discussion given the advancement of the work at Farnam. Types of agencies and businesses there will undoubtedly affect the northern part of Wooster Square district. Money given for studies of Olive St area below Grand (where there are in this person's opinion many fewer big issues). Now the focus should shift to where the real problems have been for decades... We can all benefit from a lively shopping district in our own backyard.
