Description
There are two really aggressive dachshunds at this house. They are frequently unleashed and have attacked my dog and others on the street.

Oh, come on, XYZ. Lighten up. Of course I get it that there are risks here. But it's Friday, and doesn't the mental image touch your funny bone a little???
Who are you? City government employee?

I don't know who XYZ is, but I know who I am, and I know my aunt-by-marriage, who was bitten in the face by an ill-trained dachshund, and I tell my daughter to steer very clear of these two dogs on Orange Street. They *have* bitten another dog of my acquaintance, the owners clearly need to get a tighter rein on these animals, and I worry, seriously, about something really bad happening here. I'm glad someone posted this issue to SCF and hope some not-horrifying solution to the issue can be arrived at before something very unfortunate happens. Signed, Jewish Mother who is, ok, a bit of a worrywart, but who really seriously loves dogs but has deep reservations about these two.

This is so interesting. I had no idea dachsunds were known for being vicious! Maybe it's analogous to the short-man syndrome?
I think it is illegal in New Haven to leave dogs unleashed. If these dogs are running around unleashed on Orange Street, they are going to be flattened, killed, by a car. I don't understand why dog owners don't get this simple fact.

cute, neighbor, same here (re: the first part of your comment)
just wondering, you say they are often unleashed... unleashed on the property they live at just out in the open (e.g. on the front steps or walkway) or like unleashed behind a fence and barking? i mean, in what such way were other dogs/people bitten by them in the past, if anyone knows? you get to close to the gate or do they literally jump out of the bushes at you?

I hope someone has called animal control and public safety because the city has yet to acknowledged this and they have to know there is a problem before something is done. See Click Fix is a good tool but it has to be used correctly. When you see a problem like this you have to use the phone first , you can then post to alert others and to have a record it was called in. Your post should mention what department it was called into. I am not calling this in because I have not witness an attack
