The lime bikes are to be used around town and left for the next person. I did read that the company does monitor them though seeing as they have GPS on them and if they are left in a low traffic area for more than a few days they will Come pick them up and more to a busier location for use.

I was just concerned with possible theft. I know they are locked, but ...... It has been there for well over a week now.

Although I am not employed by LimeBike, or.by the City of Raleigh, I AM an avid proponent of bikeshare programs, so please let me chime in, here.

It's important to educate the general public (not just the potential bikeshare users) about the program. So thank you for explaining a little about it, Julie. I hope LimeBike will do more along those lines!

It's also important to minimize or mitigate any negative impacts that bikeshare programs might have on the community. With that in mind, David, do you have any specific concerns about the LimeBike bikeshare program that could be addressed for you (and might help other community members)?

For example:

Is a [bikeshare] bike parked somewhere that blocks an entrance or an exit?

Is a bike parked somewhere that blocks road traffic (including marked fire lanes, no parking areas, and/or bike lanes)?

Is the bike parked somewhere that significantly blocks sidewalk or greenway traffic?

Is the bike parked insecurely (i.e. not locked at all, or only locked to itself in a way that someone who is not a participant in the bikeshare program could easily steal it)?

Is the bike parked somewhere that it cannot be used or retrieved by other bikeshare participants (because it is unfair to keep a bikeshare bike long-term, as this deprives others from using that bike)?

ANY of the above issues should be reported to and addressed by the bikeshare program operators.

Julie or David, can either of you share a related online resource where we can get more info about the LimeBike bikeshare program and its operators?

Another David, in NW Raleigh

My concerns are: 1) The bike in question has been sitting on the sidewalk for a couple weeks now. 2) There is a lock on the rear wheel, but the bike could be easily picked up and taken. It would not be difficult to cut the lock off 3) The bike is near the intersection of Lineberry Drive and Sierra Drive. It doesn't seem, to me, like a location where someone would want to use it.
