A traffic light is needed at the intersection of Rte. 896 and Oxford Road. Cars turning onto Rte 896 have problems turning safely in either direction. With a growing population in the area and greater usage of 896, traffic is becoming worse at all times of the day. The intersection was recently widened and a turn lane added on both roads. This has made it even more dangerous. Visibility is also an issue. The stop sign in New London does little to slow traffic coming up the hill. Cars frequently excelerate coming up the hill and can be going 50 miles an hour by the time they reach Oxford Road. Please put in a traffic light at this intersection.

There is already a light by the School that could be timed to have the same effect and you then wouldn't have two lights so close to each other.
Also if you are adding a light why not at State road and 896? That is a more Major intersection.

become a real stress to make a left in the morning and at rush hour. I will go different ways to avoid it. It is very dangerous and I would expect more accidents there in the future if something is not done.

Hello all,
It appears that the only public watcher in this area is Chester County Planning. Are there any other public officials or government agencies who should be notifies about this? If they have a public email address, you can make a watch area for them using the instructions here:

Thanks for using SeeClickFix!

I'm not sure what Sherry Monahan means by "Do we want to risk the worst case scenario that would involve children?"
I never see anyone crossing this intersection let alone children. Your original post was with respect to safe turning and is a reasonable concern but don't resort to an emotional appeal with little basis if your rational appeal is failing. This intersection is far away from the school zone.

This intersection is located less than 1/2 mile from the first turn off into the schools, where the many of the buses are headed. I am appealing to everyone's common sense to recognize that not only is this a dangerous intersection for passenger vehicles, but also dangerous for the cross-section of the population that travels through this intersection 5 days a week by bus and can't speak for themselves. I will not apologize for sharing my concern for the kids as their safety should be considered as well. One serious accident is too many when it could be avoided.
I want to thank everyone for participating in this discussion. At the very least, it has encouraged people to consider the intersection as a problem and think of possible solutions.
