While I sympathize with the poster here on the annoyance that vandalism brings, may I add that a few moments with a garden hose or the next good rain will wash the chalk away. I see kids playing with this stuff frequently writing on sidewalks and such and personally see no harm. In fact, these colored chalk writing sticks are designed to write on sidewalks and driveways without causing property damage. If it were paint, then I would agree steps would need to be taken to discourage since it would take more labor intensive measures to remove. Perhaps anybody walking through here next time remembers to grab a bottle of water, they can pour it over the offending words and the issue may be closed. As a side note, while this isn't rainbows and hopscotch, I would much rather the kids play with chalk than with something destructive like paint.
