Not clear about the issue. Is the PreSchool asking Parks to do something? If so, what is it? Or are they thanking Parks for something they have already done?

Having easy access to the river walk and points beyond would be a great asset to our program.

Having additional points of access to the river walk would be great for the wider community as well -- an opening in the rails at the end of Tour Ave would be a welcome addition to the heart of Westville Village.

I love this idea, making more places usable and accessible should be a cities goal.

I've edited the post so that it is clear that this is something we would like, and as many have said, it would benefit Westville, as well. I've contacted the city engineer, who forwarded the request to Parks, but I have not hear back from them. Thanks everyone for your help!

Thanks Laurie - great idea! I know the West River Watershed Coalition access committee is also interested in increased access to the river walk, and this seems like an ideal spot on the walk. Perhaps Parks can meet with WCNS. WRWC and WVRA (acronyms abound!) to discuss!

I am happy to follow up with City staff to understand what would need to happen in order to make accessible the river walk at or near this location.

It would be wonderful for the kids to have access to the river walk as well as all those living within the community!

This would be such a great asset for everyone to utilize!

Not sure why the Riverwalk is blocked off, fenced off, gated off, etc. besides for 2 access entries. Would love to see it opened up more.

This was an Army Core of Engineers project some 20+ years ago. We are currently researching to verify that there are no restrictions on modifications because we agree that improved access would be a great benefit. Once the research is complete we will work up some design concepts and seek community feedback through the management team or other public forum.
