I beg to differ. This issue is NOT closed, as far as I am concerned. Mr. Simmons told me that the highways office could NOT find any proof that Howard County is responsible for the storm sewer intake we complained about because he failed to locate the deed of drainage easement for the right of way that includes the intake structure.
I have copies of the 2009 grant of easement plat documents showing that the Anturon Homeowners Association turned over the easement to the county Department of Public Works. Howard County owns the storm drainage system that crosses the property of the Anturon HOA. The county owns the storm sewer intake that is the subject of our complaint.
I will be happy to deliver these documents to Mr. Simmons anywhere he pleases so he can copy the plat documents and be persuaded that this intake grille is a county problem--NOT an Anturon HOA problem--and it is the responsibility of Howard County to replace the grille to prevent small children or pets from falling into the storm sewer intake. This is a problem of potential peril and it is up to Howard County to fix it.
