Description
The pedestrian signal is not enough for this intersection. There should be a full traffic light here, as cars speed through the intersection and rarely slow - even if pedestrian signal is flashing.

The city has been advised of this problem multiple times, throughout the entire multi-year building of the Yale residential colleges.
We have reminded them that there USED to be a stop sign here, and it was removed when demolition started. For several years we have requested that it be put back. We have also posted instances of accidents and near-accidents, and pointed out that in general in New Haven, drivers are not good about obeying pedestrian crossing rules.
Sorry to be cynical, but residents in the neighborhood have conjectured that it will take the injury or death of a Yale-affiliated person to convince them to put in a stop sign or light, but I would bet money that the first accident will be someone taking the turn too fast and plowing into the college.
