Description
Now is the time to replace the newly planted tree that was knocked down by a car in summer. This tree is supposed to be one of three in the new traffic island. While you're at it, you might consider replacing trees planted at the roadside that didn't make it between Westville and Amity.

Thanks, LCI.
I see more and more crooked one-way signs, knocked-over trees, etc. What is going on with drivers??

The City is planning to replace the tree in the median by the Mitchell Library which was a City sponsored project. URI will be scheduling the planting later this spring.
There is another downed tree in the median by Edgewood Park which is on our radar but we have not been able to catch up from the last few storms yet - don't know when we will be able to remove.
The DOT is responsible for the trees on upper Whalley as the City did not accept responsibility for these trees which were not planted in accordance with our design standards/best practices - the tree pits were too small.

Thank you, Rebecca. I'm sure your department is overwhelmed. Only yesterday (August 20) I noticed another divider sign on the divider on Whalley at West Park Avenue got hammered. It's mangled and leaning over about 50 degrees. Somebody must have been awfully drunk or stoned to do that.
Maybe now is the time to schedule tree replacements and sign fixes for the fall.
