This barn is still the same and the cows are still out. The Wallingford Police said their animal control only does domestic animals. They don't consider cows domestic. Nobody is trying to help these cows out . They are always outside in the cold weather today Feb 18-- 21 degrees, and windy, yesterday cold and windy and the day before -- cold and rainy. I have been reading along since the initial post; I am not sure what action can be taken other than checking with the building department to see if there are any code violations (as was mentioned already).

It has not been fixed. I saw the cows under a small feeder shelter with a roof when it rains.The building should be condemned. I was told the Wallingford Animal Control went over there but I don't know what happened except to hear the cows are well fed. Well I am 'well fed" to but I still need protection from wind. cold and rain.

The barn is still falling down. I contacted Officer Rizzo at Wallingford Animal Control and Mr Raymond Connors at the State Agricultural Dept. I believe Officer Riizzo when there but everything is still the same except of two dumpster that are there. There are no places for the cows to go.Neither of these men have gotten back to me.

Maybe something is being done, their was also a big pile of dirt at the opposite end of the fenced in part where the cows are at.
The cows hover under a small feeding areas where they all don't fit and only half of their body is protected .No has has gotten back to me about what is being done. This barn should be condemned and maybe Mr Zandri can look into that and also talk to Officer Rizzo.to see what can be done.

I emailed Officer Rizzo with the pictures. I did say in that the building should be condemned. Today I went buy around 7:30 PM the cows are out and standing by that buildin that is coming down. There is a dumpster there in the front it looks because the barn door are falling foward. The cows still do not have any protection to go to when it rains or anything else. Mr Zandri you I did not contact the building inspector but you can. You have more influence than me.

OK - so since Thursday this is all the information I have been able to gather up regarding all of this.

I spoke with the owner of the property today and confirmed some of the follow up I had already gotten from the people in attendance (Council Members, Atty Small, etc).

The State of Connecticut agriculture department has checked more than once on the welfare of the cows; according to their reports the cows are well fed and are not neglected so there is nothing for them to act on with respect to that.

The Mayor's office has been involved and the matter was handed over to the Building Department. They investigated and did find the building in a state where it needs to be addressed (either repaired or removed).

A demolition permit has been taken and was listed in the paper on March 30 "demolition, $3,500.00" for the barn so at some point it will be taken down.

At this point, every entity that has been contacted has taken their actions and responded accordingly.

The State of Connecticut agriculture department followed up, the Mayor's office engaged the Building Department and they followed up, the Building Department discussed the review with the property owner and advised on available actions and the property owner is addressing the matter by action on the review.

At this point there is not much more to do or follow up on but it looks like everything is moving forward.

This is the side of the barn where the doors are collapsing. Also check out the roof. It is not two seperate roofes. It is collapsed right in the middle.

Here is another picture. I took today. It is getting warmer out but the cows still do not have a place to go except under two feeders with no other portections. They often go on the side where the building is to stand or eat.

Hi CT CORN - So with respect the barn collapsing, the Building Department is in agreement. The options given were to fix it or take it down. The owner of the property has gotten a demolition permit and will be taking it down. There's nothing else to do or escalate with respect to that so I am not sure what other action there you'd like to see taken.

With respect to the cows having protection from the elements, the State of Connecticut agriculture department reviewed the setting and the welfare of the cows and deemed that there was no neglect and that they are well fed. So with that there is nothing additional to do. If they deemed there wasn't proper shelter for them they certainly would have ordered the owner to take corrective action. Since they found no harm to the cows or their care they gave no items of action to address. There is nothing more here to escalate.

Thank you Mr Zandri for all that you have done. I took a video today. I am happy the barn is coming down. and that the cows are being well fed. My concern also is that they have a place to go for protection from the weather cold or warm, rain or snow etc. The Agriculture dept is probably right they all look healthy and well fed. The feeder are full of hay but small for a number of cows. I think there is one small feeder with a roof..

Understanding that the demolition permit was issued, I presume they indicated what additional actions, if any, the owner would need to take after the building is taken down.

At this point I think it makes sense for the open action items be executed on (demolition of the barn, follow up, etc).

Cows are out in the rain today. There protection is a metal roof that is attached to the building which is falling down. The metal roof is also falling down.

April 26 I went to Wallingford City Hall and went to the building dept. I spoke with a man named Rick. I said the building is caving in. He said that the owner has a permit to tear it down and I said it needs to come down before it collapses on the cows who eat near by. This driveway also leads to houses in the back where other cars pass and the barn might collapses on their cars as they go through. Rick said he would go visit and that he had seen the barn was really bad.
I told him the cows still have no protection if the barn is up or down. He said he has no authority about that. I did ask him to mention it to the owner. I don't know if he did

Notice that there is a house in the back where the driveway for the barn is used. I think there is another house as well where the owner lives. The barn could have fallen on the cars driving through this driveway to get to their house.

This issue is not closed. The barn is mostly down. The road on the left is a driveway to the back of the farm. On the left there are houses and people need to dive down this driveway to the house. The barn really was ready to collapse on this driveway. So now the barn is NOT a problem but the cows still do not have any were to go bu under some small roofing and feeding bins. I am uploading another picture to show where the cows go for protection.

Update->The barn is MOSTLY down. No one is doing their job to protect the cows. Yes they are well fed. No they have no where to go when it rains or when it is hot.

I spotted 6 cows today instead of 5 another baby lays with an adult cow awary from 2 adults and 2 caves..They claim these cows are well fed. I also hear they are beef cows. So it seems the owner is letting them breed, feeding them well, leaving them out in the rain and heat and then sell them for meet. This sucks.

4 other cows

There are not 7 cows. 3 adults, 4 babies of different sizes. A new one is getting fed by his mother. No real protection from the rain or heat. The authorities in Wallingford are doing nothing to protect these cows neither are the animal protection people. I guess as long as this farmer pays his taxes and gets a permit that cost $3.500 he is safe. The building has not been completely thrown down for weeks. No one cares.

This is one of the babie cows. The barn is 98 percent torn down. I believe some of the bottom half is left where the cows used to go in through the gate. It appears that the area is cleaned up. With 7 cows and 4 calves 2 females and one male from the looks of the male he is ready for producing more.There is still very little area for protection for all these animals. I am going to close this report and hope that the people responsible like the cow owners and city officials make sure the cows are not just fed but taken care of. I have come to love these cows.
