The problem is also eastbound. Any solution needs to address the curves from Rogers avenue to at least the straight away.

Any solution needs to address both eastbound and westbound traffic, from Rogers ave. to at least the straightaway after both blind curves.

There are advanced pedestrian crossing signs. Crossing signs at the crosswalk and a State Law "Stop for Pedestrians" pedestal sign in the roadway to alert motorist of potential pedestrians crossing. This crossing does not warrant the need for flashing warning signals. We feel that this crossing is safe as designed and in no need of any additional signage.

Diane, it appears you are not one of the people who are jumping out of the way of the cars who do not acknowledge those state safety laws. People are logging these items because they are not enough, and we need the county to improve beyond the required signs. We can do better instead of just enough.

I was nearly hit by a car last evening at approximately 5:45pm walking Eastbound crossing Ellicott Mills Drive on Main Street, the car was speeding up Main St and turning Right onto Ellicott Mills. I was 3/4 through the crosswalk and had to jump back to avoid being hit. This is the norm - and should not be.
Drivers are not aware of the pedestrian crossings, this combined with a speeding problem (many complaints on this too, but studies insist we don't have a speeding problem) compromises pedestrian safety in town.
Please do not dismiss the cries for pedestrian safety on Main St Ellicott City!

Safe crossings for pedestrians are a must. We need more and better marked crosswalks.

Most drivers seem to be unaware of or ignore this crosswalk, flying through without even slowing. Enhanced signage and lights are desperately needed.

I work for a company that sells traffic counting equipment. If you are so sure that it is safe then why don't you do traffic counts on Main Street? I've seen them doing counts on Old Columbia Pike and Rogers Ave/Court House Drive. People speed easily 50mph on the main road.

For westbound traffic coming up the hill, I have seen many drivers, frustrated by having to wait at the light, take off up the hill as fast as they can when the traffic in front of them clears, then blast right through that pedestrian crossing. They are moving so fast through that blind curve at the top of the hill they may not have time to react to pedestrians in the crosswalk.

This is essential.

HoCoGov, please investigate this as soon as possible! There have been many near misses.

This is still of huge concern and the issue has NOT been addressed.

This is an issue for the people of Historic Ellicott City, until a better solution is found. A solution that is beyond, what is currently in place. A solution that is beyond what is standard. The county and state... can do better, and the people of Old Ellicott City request it.

This issue has not been addressed. We are here 7 days as residents and see it and live it every day. There is poor line of site westbound and the signs are ignored. Eastbound and westbound drivers honk at us and don't stop.

This is an ongoing concern with near misses daily. Please do not let an injury be the reason this crosswalk is finally thoroughly investigated and appropriately marked.

How has this issue been addressed? Until pedestrians are able to safely walk Main St in Ellicott City, this ticket should remain open.
