Description

A potentially lethal situation at the exit of the Audubon Street parking garage (next to the housing project and Community Foundation). The stop sign is placed AFTER the sidewalk, so that cars pulling out of the garage do not stop until after they have crossed the sidewalk. Combined with very poor visibility due to the tunnel-like exit, and the large number of children and elderly walking from the adjacent public housing HQ, this is a potentially lethal situation. The stop sign needs to be moved back to before the threshold, and combined with a speed bump, bright paint, flashing lights, traffic calming and other measures to slow exiting vehicles.
