That's the 2nd tree I have seen fallen on your garage from the row of tree's your neighbor allows to grow on the boundary line of his property abutting your driveway. Your neighbor referred to that row of tree's as his "free fence" and I had seen how he weeds all other sapling trees in and around his property and prunes his natural fence. Those tree are a weed! https://plants.usda.gov/core/profile?symbol=ACPL "I would not only talk to the building inspector to up-hold the natural fence on a boundary laws but also to the health department because any tree's growing with-in only a few feet to no feet but touching one another side by side and mingling root systems is an un-healthy growing situation for any tree and trees will die off one by one being so close together causing a " safety issue" These tree's are prohibited weeds in our state! To many times I have seen the close nit friendship between neighbors and city officials in our city where they are very slow to act or to act at all, so if you do not get any results from the Building inspector who's job is also dealing with boundary fences aka natural fences, and after contacting the health department since these trees pose a health and safety issue. I would go over their heads and report the non-responsive actions of the city. I am watching the issue because in Salem something needs to be done when prohibited tree growth poses a health risk to human life and property with back to back falling trees and the city seem to be taking its sweet little old time to get out there to assess the situation. Bring this issue to the attention of both the Building inspector and the Health department.

I understand the storm caused damage with limbs and trees down in many places but this situation has been an ongoing danger with 3 trees down since 2011 I was accused of trespass by officer showing up when I was attempting to defend my property from the 1st limb on my garage roof. The 2nd tree down was 2016 early afternoon - no wind - I called police due to being told it was harassment to attempt to contact this neighbor regarding these trees.....talk only thru an Atty.... like they are free or like money grows on trees other words shut up. Waiting for the city to enforce state law about boundaries

I see that this neighbor has cut the trunk of the latest tree that snapped just below the part with all the tiny holes in it. I do have the lower section of that trunk where it snapped showing all tiny holes that may have weakened that tree. There are other trees with the same tiny holes as well trees with the bark cracked and split al along the trunks and this is causing the trees to be unhealthy and pose a danger. I have many close up photos of these trunks that this owner/neighbor can not hide. They need to be inspected fro sure. All other surrounding city's have a fence viewer wasup?

These are two photos taken later that day before help arrived to get tree off my back door. Someone will get hurt and Ken (for one) will be liable.

The strange little bug that I discovered 2 times in my house (put outside) within a year during autumn may be responsible for those tiny holes in the trees. They seem to form a band around the trunks in a spiral but right at where the trunk snapped. Not much is known about these bugs but it was suggested that they suck sap from trees. I saved all wood and have the broken sections of trunk with tiny holes also. This photo shows the level where tree snapped. The trunk has since been cut shorter.

I found the web info for the invasive bug that's been munching on the Maple trees but also these trees have frost split bark too that is causing them to be weak not just the overcrowding in the narrow area clearly within boundary line. These bugs may be responsible for the latest damage to these trees. The photo is of BOTH the bug (I trapped in pink plastic goblet 2014) and the image from web clearly distinguishing this bug from all other stink bugs as the invasive destructive bug due to the light color bands of off-white on legs. My photo the lighter color stripes are a blur in background color (or is a lack of color) but no mistake. I saw a website asking to report instances of this bug. I will seek out that site now that have seen all other species and ruled out other bugs.
