While I appreciate that there is a designated place for first friday to dump all the trash it generates, this street corner is not an appropriate place for a giant dumpster to be left. People use the 24th and Valley street corner as an annex to the city dump as it is. Placing this giant dumpster here makes things worse. I'm all for folks collecting bottles and cans to recycle, but one gentleman made a day of this, camping out as he picked through the trash, which he scattered around the area. My complaint is not really about him, however, it's about the City of Oakland's choice to use my street as a temporary dump, thereby getting people into the mindset that our street is a good place to leave trash. There is so much dog poop all up and down this street already. The dumpster is making things much worse. Please find a different location for this dumpster. Perhaps you can rent a few spaces from the parking lot in this area?
