City Staff checked the pole numbers in this area. We cannot identify which street light you refer to. Please provide us with a landmark and/or specific detail as to the location so that we may report this outage correctly. Thank you very much.

Here is a picture of the pole number. The light is on the south side of Treasure Island Causeway just east of the bridge between the main TI island and Paradise island.

I will be having staff check the photo cell at the bridge. I noticed all south lights out this morning.

Apologies for the delay. This light is a Duke Energy street light. It was reported today to Duke Energy. Duke usually states 3-5 business days for repair, unless there is a larger issue.

There has been an unusual delay in responses from Duke, contributed to the Hurricane repairs & present scheduling. Public Works will continue to follow up.

When someone first said the "this light is a Duke Energy street light", my first thought was "why would Duke own a street light? Now, since they can't seem to change a light bulb, and since I witnessed how poor their hurricane response was here on the island, I really would like to know, "why does Duke own responsibility for changing a light bulb on a city street in the town in which I pay property taxes?

The City leases the street lights from Duke Energy and the City pays the energy bills. Duke is responsible for the maintenance of the street lights.
The only lights owned and maintained by the City, are on the three Causeway bridges.

It’s been more than a month since I reported this.The light is still out. Should it really take this long to change a lightbulb? I should think we’d have a contract with Duke that insists on better service than this. Why is it taking so long? I think a broken light should be considered a safety issue. Where is the sense of urgency?

Coincidently Public Works called Duke's Business Customer Service this morning regarding delays on a handful of street light reports (including this one). Those old reports (from online web page reporting) were again given to Duke by phone with a live Customer Service Representative.
As for the delay, Duke states that they have still been addressing the numerous outages from the September storm.
