Crossing guard at crosswalk at Taylor/Eighth entered the walk with sign raised and stopped traffic to allow a mounted cyclist traveling west on Taylor, on the roadway, to cross Eighth, and proceed on Taylor.
A mounted cyclist is not a pedestrian.
A mounted cyclist on the roadway is a 'vehicle' under California Vehicle Code.
It seems some remedial training for crossing guards is in order.

Really????? Geez. What a waste of keyboard juice.
A car is going to win against a cyclist every bloody time. The crossing guard was doing his/her job by ensuring the safety of the cyclist. They do that for me (on my bike) every morning at 9th and Lincoln. I, for one, applaud the brave men and women of the crossing guard for protecting cyclists from the 4 wheeled murder machines.
