Description
Park Barbecuing is ruining Morningside Park, namely:
· Hot coals being discarded next to trees
· Massive increase in garbage and debris
· Not enough instructional signs or enforcement of rules
· Impact to eco-system of pond by garbage, coals and debris
· Health issue being posed by rodents feeding on discarded food and garbage.

The complete lack of responsibility by the people barbequing in the park is upsetting. The park is absolutely trashed every weekend and despite the best efforts of the clean-up crews and dept of sanitation(thank you both for this thank less job), it is never restored back to the original condition. Rotting food remains on the ground, hidden in the grass where innocent animals and children pick it up and eat it.
The police do nothing to enforce proper clean up or a timely close to the park at 10pm. They should drive through starting at 9:30 and demand people leave. Anyone seen leaving garbage on the ground should be fined heavily. I am in favor of making people apply for permits to BBQ - and assigning them specific plots of land. This way when the areas are left filled with garbage and debris, the Parks Dept can fine them and use the money to clean the park and replant the lawn and surround areas which desperately need it.
