This intersection is a nightmare even with the pedestrian crossing sign.The sign needs to be replaced immeditately and stricter enforcement of traffic laws on Monmouth (especially at Columbus) needs to be implamented.

Agreed. A “stop for pedestrians when flashing” setup would be ideal. So people can push a button and cross safely.

Due to the winter season, pedestrian crosswalk signs have been removed from the Jersey City streets in the anticipation of snow fall this season.

Therefore, all requests for pedestrian crosswalk signs will resume in the spring season.

Thank you for the update. However, Monmouth St. continues to be a very hazardous street to cross, both at 1st and especially at Columbus. With ambulances from JCMC whizzing through every half hour (or more frequently), and cars trying to make the left turn signal at Columbus, crossing is truly a death defying adventure. I've been advising of this for years, and the poles on Columbus at the intersection, as well as the left turn signal have helped, but more needs to be done. A speed bump? Definitely more enforcement.
