Description
The location of the pedestrian traffic light call button is very close to the traffic. Traffic seems to funnel down this newly constructed road bends at speed, especially at office rush hours. The intersection of new traffic lights, roads, lanes and turns makes this area especially confusing. Several times a day car tires can be heard impacting the curb resulting in punctures or lost hub caps (see photo). Car fender bumpers occur fairly frequently as well. As this area has commonly a wait area for school children to wait for the crossing light, this can be an unsafe condition as the waiting and button area is close to traffic. Many times, cars can be seen driving on the new bike path.

Suggestion - please install a line of narrow trees along the center divider (between the road and the cycle lane) from Broadway crossover up to approx the pedestrian bridge. This will reduce the long open sight lines and naturally cause drivers on Broadway to approach with more caution. It will also beautify a particularly ugly area. This idea straight from the "Make it feel dangerous to drivers" playbook. https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2015/02/to-make-roads-safe-make-them-feel-dangerous/386336/
I suggest a row of Italian Cypress spaced perhaps 4' trunk to trunk https://www.newlifenursery1.net/products/italian-cypress-cupressus-sempervirens
The reduction in speed drivers need to adopt when exiting the freeway towards Broadway is another matter... I'm not sure I have any good suggestions for that other than horizontal lines that get closer together as a driver approaches the Broadway traffic light, or perhaps zig zag lines https://youtu.be/_lCkNdGaOXc
