They purchase broken down cars at auction then the neighbor who lives a few houses down and runs an illegal car repair shop out of his house fixes them.

Community Development will assign an Inspector to check the vehicle for violations of the City’s Junk, Litter and Inoperable Ordinance. There must be visible signs that deem the vehicle in question inoperable (flat tires, motor parts missing, up on jacks, etc). Please be advised that we cannot require a vehicle to be driven on a daily, weekly, monthly basis nor tell them where to park the vehicle.

Community Development’s Inspector has posted the vehicle/non-motorized vehicle with a 24 hour notice. This notice requires them remove the vehicle from the street. A schedule re-inspection of the vehicle will be done to insure compliance with the ordinance and if the vehicle has not been removed or repaired it may be impounded.
