I spoke with a city worker who said that the homeless constantly illegally steal electricity from underground boxes that are constantly covered by tent emcampments, and the city workers cannot access and fix the problem with all the tents there. They need to wait and have the area 'cleaned out' and then go in and fix the problem. The problem is not the city repair crews, its the constant tampering of the wiring and inaccessability to repair the illegal taps.by the emcampments.

Mayor Shaff needs to step up. Or maybe she should open the street SHE lives on for tents to pop up and garbage to pile....

Until the idiots stealing power and overloading ciruts get jailed or killed or deported, get used to many lights not working for unknown days or weeks.

To the Mayor......are you waiting for someone to get KILLED before you act? Only time will tell.

I have noticed on my walk to BART in the morning that there's an electrical cover on the sidewalk that was ajar and a bunch of wires were pulled out and sprawled all over. not sure if they were actually cut but I'm guessing this has something to do with the streetlights not working. I've also witnessed a homeless person across the street going to town on something one night and I'm pretty sure it was the same thing.

HOwever, there are no encampments along this block between Union and Adeline...I'm really hoping this gets fixed soon. many of my neighbors walk/bike to and from BART everyday and with it getting dark so early and the way cars come flying off the 880 offramp it's just really dangerous.
