Description
The recent street repaving of our entire neighborhood is a mess! The tar continues to ball up little pebbles that get tracked into our homes. I sweep up in front of my house weekly. While out walking, I've noticed that weeds are already growing between street n curbs. A horrible job!!!

The City apologizes for the inconvenience associated with the Slurry Seal Project that has taken place along Buxton Ave and the rest of your neighborhood. As you might be aware, a slurry seal is an application of a mixture of water, asphalt emulsion, aggregate (very small crushed rock), and additives to an existing asphalt pavement surface. A slurry seal is similar to a fog seal except the slurry seal has aggregates as part of the mixture. This combined mixture of the emulsion and aggregates represents “slurry.” The placement of this mixture on existing pavement is the “seal” as it is intended to seal the pavement surface. The slurry seal is applied in order to help preserve and protect the underlying pavement structure and provide a new driving surface.
The slurry seal will lose stones after application necessitating regular street sweeping. The City sweeps the roads in your neighborhood once a week on Friday. Unfortunately, the street sweeper can not clean the edge of the road and gutter pan if vehicles are parked along the road during the regular street sweeping days.
