No Plows either for Blackstone Village. Over 400 people stranded in their condos. Hope the officials remember that most of these residents are official voters. And this issue of disconnect will be remembered for sure. Plow cam through 8PM Friday night and nothing since.
The people who are in charge and who operate the snow removal equipment are not elected officials so what difference does it make if you vote or not? There is a written protocol, available on the City of Meriden website, that they follow. When you get plowed depends on where you fall according to this protocol.
Written protocol???? Where does it say not to plow streets during a storm? No plows were seen at all during storm. Sounds like Richk406 is making friends with the DPW. Did Rcih406 help dig out his street like his neighbors so they can get out? Or is he taking advantage of other peoples hard work? They knew this storm was coming and the city manager could have planned better and have gotten more sub-contractors here earlier. Come on Richk406, protocols are one thing, but when emergency vehicles can't reach people that need them?
Ken do you want to put the plow operators safety on the line? For my 50+ years on this earth I have always helped, including the '78 blizzard. This year it is tough seeing I had shoulder surgery 1/16, it's hard enough to type with one arm in a sling never mind shovel or operate a snow blower. My neighbors came to my rescue this year and I loaned out my snowblower to anyone in my neighborhood who needed it. Every town in CT is after every possible peice of equipmenht to clear their streets, where do you propose he get help from? If you know of someone please contact the city. As to emergency vehicles, plows were pulled off their assignments to make it possible for the emnergency vehicles to get thru. I live on a cul-de-sac that has been plowed because of a medical emergency so that the fire dept and ambulance could get in. What have you done to help?
There is a crew working this morning in the Bradley Park area, starting from the Hanover Street side. Some of the streets in the Fourth Street area have been done. We will pick the rest up when we can. All crews and all equipment and every private contractor with heavy equipment that we could contact has been out there clearing roads since Friday.
