Description
The City has posted and requested that all residents continue to park on the EVEN number side of the road.
A few "special" people on South Water Street have taken it upon themselves to park on the odd number side. The result has been that the plows...when they came...could not effectively clean the street. The plows then went down the EVEN side of the street in an effort to widen the street...but plowed everyone in that had followed the directive to park on the even side. Since this happened the plows have not been back to South Water Street. Had people done what they were told the plows would not have had to plow the even side of the street (Yet) and block us all in. The plows could have cleaned the Odd side of the street and we could have then later moved our cars as a group to the opposite side...again aiding the plows in efficiently clearing the snow from the EVEN side of the street.
People parked incorrectly should move their cars to the EVEN side of the street with everyone else, or park in your own driveway! Some of us wish we had a driveway. There is no need for these people to park on the incorrect side of the street..or even on the street...when they have a driveway. These people are impacting the ability of the plows to do an efficient job! Sadly, many people do not see that improperly parked cars were the reason the plowing job was subpar and the next thing you see..are people posting the poor plowing job on SeeClickFix.
The City is busy with snow removal and the police are busy as well. However, perhaps the police should start ticketing and towing on South Water Street. The sooner this street (as well as Howard and Sea St) gets cleared the sooner the Sound School Can open back up and the sooner City buses will be able to pass down the street and stop without blocking people in.
Rude neighbors...please move your cars! City of New Haven Please ticket and tow them if they do not move!

What Chris said is correct--signing up for Emergency Notifications is very helpful. You can choose to receive automatic emails, pre-recorded reverse 911 calls or both.
Residents should also check the City of New Haven's website at www.cityofnewhaven.com On the front page of the website, on the right hand side is a "News You Can Use" section where updates on the storm clean-up are placed.
You can also go here: http://bit.ly/Wk9ML6 to view the latest (and previous) press releases from the City.
