The issue is not that no one is digging out the fire hydrant-the issue is that the residents of what is most likely Union Place have created an eight foot high snow pile in front of the hydrant. The hydrant itself is not buried-it is accessible from the sidewalk, but on the street side is a massive mound that totally blocks access to it from the street and also obscures it. You are ticketed if your sidewalk is not shovled-is there no ramifications/actions the city can take for this?
Thank you for the additional information. Contractors should not be piling snow from private property in the public way. We will send some someone to look at this location early next week.

The Cambridge Fire Department has inspected and cleared hydrants in the days following the storm.
