Space savers everywhere. 2 chairs in front of 105 Otis st and in front of funeral home. Not fair

Please tackle this issue ASAP. A bit of snow doesn't turn public space into private parking. If you let things slide for a few days everyone will start doing it. The city needs to be firm, it is illegal.

I agree. This is shameful and frankly something I'd thought the residents of East Cambridge were better then.

This has been a persistent problem for many years. The city does not take it seriously because they don't care.

It is illegal to ‘reserve’ cleared parking spaces. Objects left in on-street parking spaces may be removed when crews are available after a snow event or when a snow emergency has been lifted. Public Works crews have been and continue to focus on snow removal operations to help widen streets, increase sight lines at corners, and improve access at intersections for pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles. As crews become available, they will be removing space savers across the city.

People wouldn't complain about savers if they'd get out there and clear a space for themselves >:-(

I've put my car in the 1st Street Garage for the winter, at the residents' rate of $50 per month. This is about basic decency and the fact that guests cannot park when visiting. I'm not aware of other cities outside of Boston practicing this bizarre ritual.

The issue really needs to be Cambridge providing snow REMOVAL rather than snow PLOWING. "A bit of snow" indeed..

Public Works will be removing space savers this Friday, January 12th.

Please remove all space savers from the roadway by 7am Friday morning or they will be collected by Public Works crews.

Thanks for the comments! I feel like this is going to be an ongoing issue unless the City enforces these rules consistently.

I've thought about removing the space savers myself (even if I'm not parking), but worry that the next car to park there would get their tires slashed or something worse.

This location was given to our crews and collected last week.
