Deskripsyon

There is high pedestrian traffic at this intersection, but no pedestrian safety measures. A stoplight with pedestrian signals would dramatically improve pedestrian safety at this intersection. At the very least, signs telling cars to stop for pedestrians would help. The intersection is also unsafe for drivers attempting to turn left from Pollard to Wilson, as the Wilson traffic is often speeding and the road curves there, harming visibility.

The drivers coming from the green traffic light at Quincy Street are accelerating, not slowing, by the time they approach the crosswalk. The west-bound vehicles impede the visibility of the pedestrians crossing south-bound so that the east-bound (accelerating) vehicles do not see them until the last possible moment. A flashing pedestrian warning light (similar to the new one in the 3000 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue in Del Ray) would be a good start.
