  This is a homeless collecting illegally dumped things. If you want to stop this hold the people that throw their trash in the street accountable. stop with "free I put it in the street if you want it" adds. the person collecting this is just doing wha the city can't do because the people dumping the garbage are not telling the city. Dan Kalb can not do anything about it. The people of the neighborhood need to treat the environment and their civic duty with more respect.

  Placing anything except city approved trash and green waste containers or out for bulky waste pick up on the curb, sidewalk or street is illegal dumping. There is currently next to zero enforcement for this up to the large scale illegal dumping that is happening all over Oakland. Mr Kalb and the rest of our elected officials are responsible for running this city and that means having laws, ordinances,rules and statutes (LORS) enforced. Currently they are not doing there jobs as the city is rife with illegal dumping, spray vandalism, illegal encampments and way to much crime in general. If your neighbors are dumping there unwanted crap on the street because they are to lazy to deal it call them out.

  That is great advice, if only we would all take it. Now pleade explain how taking away a homeless persons things (that were illegally dumped and advertised on craigslist and nextdoor) sloves this problem. Because right now ir looks like you are picking on a homeless person thathas no voice. What are you trying to fix? I live obe blockfrom here and it sounds like you do not. There are more dangerous thing around here than that.

  No @Tjones, it is not a homeless person's stuff. It belongs to a man who lives in a small apartment, who has come by with his social worker in a Zipcar, and admitted he had so much stuff in his apartment that he needed to store it somewhere else. So while others pay for storage, he thinks he has the right to store his junk on the street. Do not conflate this with stuff owned by an actual homeless person who has nowhere else to put their stuff. Many of us who live just as close as you do to the site have posted on SeeCilckFix about this. Agreed that people should not leave their junk on the street for others to take, because more often than not, no one wants it and it just becomes a mess.

  This isn't a petty fight...this is an eye sore in the neighborhood and the city should address it. It is attracting more garbage, homeless activities, etc. It is illegal storage and should be dealt with by the city as such.

  You keep changing why you are upset with this. In any case you do not need multiple tickets in the sytem if you know who the person is and why the garbage is there. Continuing to do the same thing expecting a different result is petty and insane.

  Posting the same ticket every week is petty and childish.
  I am your neighbor, i see that street daily and it has not been there for a year. It angering to hear an entitled person lie, and distort reality for their own personal gain. Stop abusing this platform to attack your neighbors. 1 ticket per issue is all you need. And if you have the information you cliam you do, then this is not the place to embarass a neighbor that you claim is a hoaeder. Perhaps you talk to the person doing it.
  Again grow and be a better citizen, you ssid yourself that people should be called put so i am calling you out and asking you to stop posting the same issue here just because you don't like something.

  While you can be compassionate that this one person doesn't have anywhere else to place their belongings..where does it end? If everyone starts doing this, what kind of street are we going to have? Public space in the interest of everyone. this one person is abusing public space whether you like it or not. if you start allowing one person to do this then why shouldn't everyone else do the same? This is Pandora's box we are not willing to open. This is a public, safety, health and hazard issue and the city needs to address the current issues in Oakland. Being permissive (or dismissive and ignoring the issues) doesn't lead to a solution. this isn't doing anyone a favor, not the neighbors and not the person who can't afford to live with his belongings.

  if this person is mentally ill then they can not be held accountable, if they have a social worker than they are working on the problem. posting this weekly does not help and is clearly meant to shame a person with an illness they are battling. the point i am trying to make is " posting this weekly does nothing to help the problem" the problem seems to be mental health and posting a ticket about your neighbors mental health does not solve or help.

  I agree with the reason/causes of this person's condition. it's not like they enjoy it. However, for the person posting, there comes a point where people get fed up from lack of action. When you have to live there and you see no improvment, no change I can understand that someone would post every week in hopes that this gets addressed more quickly. Clealry this isn't being addressed, so while you are getting upset with the poster (you could just disregard it), they are probably frustrated with the situation. Everyone can see this in many lights and pointing fingers at someone for reporting an issue "too many times" (in your own opinion) also doesn't accomplish anything.

  The degradation of public space is itself a huge problem, one that will drive the wealthy farther and farther into private gated enclaves, private jets, and life separate from social disorder that's now common in Oakland and other cities.

  Stand up for public space!
