As this is actually not been addressed, why is this closed? This isn't really an answer. Can we please have some further clarification?

AMA I heard that someone hacked in and "closed" all the topics... This problem intersection is further exacerbated by the newly formed pot holes along the left side of the left lane. If only everyone knew how to properly execute the zipper maneuver (unlikely).

totally agree with these comments..everytime we take that intersection, I cringe that we are going to be hit by the car or truck next to us....It's a mess and a hazard!

And my point was that they hadn't really addressed the issue, so it should remain open. (And thank you, John, for starting this in the first place.) I agree with having some temporary lines, at the very least.

Ahhhh... I see what you mean, John. I misunderstood who you meant it was unpopular to. I apologize. Yes, I am sure they would rather us not point out how they made an already bad situation worse and paid A LOT of money to screw it all up.

Agree with all this, that whole intersection is a mess and they need to fix the left turn flasher from Loring onto Jefferson. Just because it flashes, does not mean anyone can go. 3 or 4 cars get through there, resulting in backups down past Leggs Hill. But the new lanes on Canal into Jefferson will make your heart race!

This intersection is currently under construction by MassDOT as part of the Canal Street roadway improvements. The Traffic and Parking Department has notified the Engineering Department, who is working with MassDOT on the project, about the lane width concerns.

I agree this is a problem. Not sure what designers can do about it though. There are talented and smart designers who can solve the trickiest problems, but they have to be told there is a problem in the first place. This SeeClickFix issue should bear witness that it IS a problem And in reality it's even worse when you have to deal with abnormally high and crazy traffic. I have witnessed a few times where a driver comes from Canal travelling in the right lane and is supposed to take the right turn, but at the last possible second crosses over into the left lane onto Loring Ave, cutting other drivers off. If I've seen it a few times, I can just imagine how many times it actually does happen. HINT to city officials and police - this could be a good place to ticket dangerous driving behavior. Look over the city records. There have been a huge number of accidents in this intersection alone through the years.
