Hello Jennifer, thank you for this request. The trees along the indicated stretch of Lone Jack are privately owned and maintained. The city is unable to work on private trees and it is up to the property owner to maintain them. Since the location description had 2 locations, I also checked the trees around 1107 Rancho Encinitas. There are a few trees along the ROW that are city owned. Those trees are on a regular pruning schedule and are due to be trimmed next fiscal year, so sometime in between July and Dec 2018.
Can you confirm if the tree in question is on Lone Jack or a different location? All the city will be able to do is leave a notice at the property that someone has reported it to be a potential liability. As long as the tree is clearing the 14 foot above a travel lane, there are no municipal codes or restrictions on private trees. The fire department can ask a property to remove a dead tree if it is a fire hazard (and you can see in the photo it is not dead), but no other departments can direct a property owner to remove it.

My concern is that these privately owned trees have already fallen Lone Jack causing a hazard. Another looks like it’s ready to fall.
What is the city’s protocol to enforce the maintenance of these trees that are a public hazard?
