Thank you for reporting your issue to the City of Bridgeport.
We already have an open ticket 3990205. We are working with BHA to get the issues resolved.

I am wondering what the outcome of the meeting with the developer was and if some framework has been created for dealing with the issues presented here.

A simple question would be, why are you “working with BHA”? Unlike a lot of other abandoned structures here in Bridgeport we know the owner of this mess. I would think a massive daily compounding fine would inspire them to get into the action mode or are we just saying please? 😏

We cannot fine the BHA. We can and will enforce compliance.
We are going to meet with staff members in March.

Marina Village – Demolition – Phase 1

Site conditions:

The Phase 1 site contained 14 abandoned buildings and impacted soils. Each area was secured with 6’ chain link fencing and gates. The buildings were abated, demolished, and the construction debris removed from the site. The concrete foundations were removed from the ground, downsized, and stockpiled in windrow for future use as clean fills. The fencing is driven and remains around the site.

4235 Tons of impacted soil material were removed and shipped to the appropriate landfills.

The elevation of the site was left at an elevation below the surrounding streets so that run off from the site would not contribute to the flow of the combined sewer system in the area (no contribution to the sewer system mandated by Bridgeport WPCA).

The foundation concrete (for clean fill) remains on site to offset the loss of the impacted soils without the cost of and traffic impacts of removing the clean fills and replenishing that amount of soil.

The condition for the site at the end of the demolition was described in the contract documents and has been executed at the site.

Please note that the areas that seem to be of concern appear to be related to trash in the fenced area around former bldgs. 28 and 29 plus the vacant, boarded up buildings in Phase 2. We’re happy to assist the BHA with any efforts to help maintain or further secure those buildings, fencing, etc. but we will need some direction from BHA for those activities. Additionally, we expect to be able to initiate the demolition in the Phase 2 area within the next 60 days.

Thank you for the update Todd. As a local Realtor it's important for me to be able to tell my prospective area buyers what's going on with this site as it greatly impacts the neighborhood.

That was a copy of the email text sent to me by BHA.
We are having representatives from BHA (they have almost all accepted) attend our next blight meeting. It is at the end of March.
