I recall signing your petition for the stop sign after the near fatal situation with the bicyclist who ran the stop sign from Beatty and the irony of that is the bicyclists still don't stop for the stop sign!

Kathryn Johnson: I support the stop sign but like John said beyond the intersection people hit the gas and speed unabated from Oakview to the stop sign and from the stop sign to Oakview. There needs to be something that mitigates speeding along that stretch because it is a safety issue with so many children on the sidewalks on this block. This isn't an either/or situation and there are two speed humps on the other side of the Beatty intersection on 2nd.
I'm sincerely happy to have you over to my porch so you can see this issue from my vantage point. John you're welcome as well.

It seems to me that Atlanta did Decatur a favor in repaving a stretch of 2nd Ave in Decatur, even though that action has been requested of Decatur for many years due to the deteriorating status of 2nd Ave...with no attention from Decatur, nor mention of scheduling much needed repaving of ALL of 2nd Ave.
