This is destroying my car! I have a bent rim and have replaced 2 tires already at $179 each. Please fix this................

Plows have removed most of the asphalt patch and now the damage is creating a bottleneck in that area. Not more than 1 hour ago I hit this damage while trying to negotiate my way onto I80 west from 215 North. It's impossible to pay attention to avoiding these craters when you're trying to shoehorn your car into slower traffic. The photo attached shows the resulting damage to yet another one of the wheels on my car. The road damage in this area is old, lane-wide and should have been addressed, at least, with a longer lasting patch, a long time ago. Please fix this so we don't have to keep paying for the damage it shouldn't be causing to our vehicles.

I drive this every day as well. I've reported it once and agree that it needs to be dealt with as soon as possible before it causes a wreck and/or injuries.

I travel this route 3 times a week and have to try and avoid these potholes while attempting to merge into the west bound traffic on I-80 into slower traffic going to the airport, bent a strut hitting one of them the other day. PLEASE GET THEM FIXED

I received an update from our Structures Division that they are working on a project that will replace the bridge deck however that long term solution is 1 to 2 years away. In the meantime maintenance crews will continue to fill the potholes with temporary patch material. Once we have consistent temperatures of 50 degrees and above they can work on a better patch for the area until the project is able to make a permanent fix. We apologize for the inconvenience and will continue to keep the road in as good of repair as possible. Thank you.

This is not only beating the crap out of MY car and 10s of 1000s of cars each day, it is 100% a DEATH trap and hazard for everyone around. This is being documented and will be produced in court if there ever comes a wrongful death suit. Why does it take Utah 2 years to fix something that is virtually waiting to KILL someone and has been VERY well documented? Let's hope no one gets injured or killed, including your family members travelling on that corridor.

Road temp today was 75. A permanent fix should have been done already. These excuses are costing us harm to our property and also dangerous road conditions. Do we need to stop traffic from using this interchange? I think you should close it till you fix it. Enough is enough.

Kendall, exactly! Those of us that drive on it everyday or multiple times a day have a hard enough time avoiding them. Imagine if you are NOT from here or a trucker (yes, believe it or not, out of state truckers use this roadway) and you hit that and completely have to correct the suspension violence. This winter, I saw 2x that 53 footers lose complete glaciers onto the road. I was lucky enough to miss the leftover blocks of ice, but they layed there in the road waiting for a Prius to hit and die.
Dramatic? ummmmmm NOPE. however, imagine the drama at your family member's funeral because of this nonsense and Bureaucracy CRAP! FIX IT. I have watched this same excuse for 8 months from you now.

Thank you for your update, Becky. Another 1-2 years for a permanent fix seems like an eternity, so I hope the temporary patch warms up will be more durable than the pothole plugs we've ben seeing. I just drove over it today, and the patches done yesterday have already begun to sink. :(

We have put men on the moon, robots on Mars, and computers in the pockets of billions of people but we can’t fix a set of craters on I80 for 6 months because it’s cold? Sounds to me that UDOT knows they can’t lose in court which means there’s no reason to find ways to give tax payers solutions. At the very least a metal plate can be placed over the holes, the lanes closed, a sign, anything that stops the auto repair bills or warns drivers that when you hit “this” pothole your car will be damaged and you can’t sue UDOT for your losses or ask for a refund of your taxes and registration fees. No, instead they decided that letting vehicles hit these bottomless pits is a small price to pay to keep all three lanes open ( in other words , doing nothing is a valid decision and is actually seen as doing something, by the state ). To add to the lack of ownership, UDOT calls the damage done to vehicles an “inconvenience”. If all of the UDOT employees had to drive their personal vehicles over a pothole that cracks a wheel, ruins a tire, breaks a strut or bends the suspension, and then had to pay for the repairs themselves, I think they’d have a hard time finding it just inconvenient. Then they might also figure out how to make Utah the first state that can fix the road when it’s cold and the last state to use the law to absolve itself from the responsibility of loss due to negligence. Either way, the only thing seeclickfix seems to do is provide proof that it can take months and months for a road repair to happen after someone first complains about a pothole. Oh, and allow people to vent after having their cars damaged. We can do better! I would rather pay extra to advance road repair technology than I would pay for another new wheel and alignment. My car has never been the same.

It's horrible across all lanes now, including a little farther up as you merge onto the freeway. And the holes just keep getting deeper and deeper.

I have notified every single news agency in Utah in hopes for some help. UDOT is useless and cares not for the public safety. Again, this is all being very well documented for the time that (God forbid) someone dies or gets seriously injured. I saw a motorcycle nearly go down just the other day.

why is this not fixed yet? I hit this yesterday coming home from work and thought my tire was going to blow because the pot hole is so deep. there was a car in front of me so I wasn't able to see it coming and dodge the pot hole. the car in front of me had plastic from its bumper come flying back at my car because they also hit the pot hole. UDOT you need to fix this ASAP. this pot hole was bad but since the last rain storm its now worse.

We are currently working to hire a contractor to remove and replace the asphalt on the structure. Our plan is perform the work next month and it will take place on the weekends. Please be aware that inclement weather may postpone planned work.

Who do i submit damage claims to? This is a photo of the underside of my car. This is damage caused by the Westbound lane on I-80 at the airport bridge damage point that everyone is talking about for the past 8 months.

Crews will be in the area making repairs this weekend. They will close two lanes westbound and one lane eastbound beginning 8 p.m. Friday, May 4, through Monday at 4 a.m. There is also a possible ramp closure on Saturday from the Airport to eastbound I-80 and Bangerter to eastbound I-80.

Westbound repairs have been completed. Crews will return and complete the eastbound repairs in the next few weeks.
