Sec. 50-5. - Prohibited parking of commercial vehicles.
(a) Prohibited parking during nighttime. No person shall park a commercial vehicle on any public property or public right-of-way within the city at any time during nighttime, or allow such commercial vehicle to remain on any public property or public right-of-way during nighttime.
No more than one vehicle related to the home occupation shall be permitted upon the premises. Such vehicle must be 20 feet or less in overall length and must be parked off any public right-of-way. All exterior storage of cargo, equipment or other materials on such vehicle shall be shielded from view at all times when such vehicle is located on a residential lot.

Q. What is the Issue or Complaint?
A. Two commercial vehicles parked every weekend for overnight and for over 24 hours blocking / dangerous corner on 86th Ave. During the week the trucks are apparently used for night time work, then parked on street during the day, on weekends they are moved and block the corner of W Gulf Blvd and 86th Ave

The same two vehicles, driven by two separate residents (addresses), from the same business are not a hazard to traffic or parking, and serve as a calming measure for vehicles traversing 86th AVE. I live on 86th AVE and have never had any problem getting down my street with the vehicles parked (legally) during the day or evenings, and even on crowded weekends. Furthermore, Anonymous complains about parking during the day while at the same time conceding commercial vehicles have every right to park on our streets during the day. In addition, Anonymous fails to indicate whether or not either of the vehicles meets the definition for code purposes of a commercial vehicle, or falls into an exception, pursuant to Section 50-1, Treasure Island Code.
Finally, and I stress this, the vehicles in question are driven daily by two separate residents of 86th AVE. The code provisions cited are not meant to hinder or harass residents, but to stop persons unrelated to the area from leaving such vehicles in the area and using parking which would otherwise be available to both residents and the general public.
