A FLASHING pedestrian cross signal is needed at the intersection of College Street and Wall Street, so that the pedestrians can press the button , the light will flash and cars will see it and stop - BEFORE they walk out into the street in front of oncoming cars. This area is poorly lit and heavily shadowed by trees and buildings, and when you have students in dark clothing focusing on their cell phones and wandering into the intersection at an intersection where vehicles have difficulty seeing them, this area is an accident waiting to happen. There is a pedestrian flashing light midway on Locke Street, on Prospect and on Whitney. Please add one more - for the safety of the pedestrians as well as the vehicles. I almost struck a pedestrian when they ran out into the intersection as my vehicle came into intersection and was almost rear-ended when I slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting a person ... who didn't bother to look or wait. Please drive by there between 5-6pm when it is dark and see how heavily traverse that crosswalk is (also a Yale Shuttle Stop) and how the pedestrians just walk out into the crosswalk with no regard for moving/oncoming traffic.
