Thank you for your concern. A complaint has been sent to Public Works Street Maintenance Division. The original complaints have been regarding parking violations, which is why they were being sent to Police Parking Enforcement.
It is a parking issue AND a maintenance issue. The street has not been adequately plowed all winter, so drivers are parking in the bike lane, which is illegal, but police aren’t enforcing the law—which means it won’t be safe to bike here until the snow melts. Surely St. Paul can do better than that.
As previously stated, your complaint was sent to Public Works Street Maintenance Division AND the original complaints regarding parking violations, were sent to Police Parking Enforcement. Both departments received the complaints. For follow-up on parking enforcement, please call 651-266-5585 or 651-291-1111. For follow-up on plowing, please call 651-266-9700.
I called parking enforcement yesterday and was told they wouldn’t ticket or tow these cars and that they needed to park in the bike lane because of the snow. So St. Paul’s official policy is to ignore the law and prioritize parking ahead of safety.
