Street sweeping will happen before Operation Clean Sweep. The sweepers are in the shop being repaired and once winter is over DPW will start sweeping the bike lanes. Snow is still in the forecast this week.

Delaying until spring is inconsistent with what the department said last year at this time. Last week was perfect for sweeping, and surely there will be other opportunities before Clean Sweep.

This remains a huge issue. While we have decent weather to get it in can you please take a pass over the bike lanes?

I know Clean Sweep is coming up, but that is still a month away and most of the 135 miles of streets are not germaine to the 7 miles of bike lanes that need to be swept now as they pose a safety problem currently.

Specifically I know that Pine St, N. and S. Winooski Ave., and North Ave. are in need of sweeping. There are probably others. It does not make sense to wait until there is no longer any risk of snow - conditions right now are dangerous.

Everywhere is terrible. Its the worst Ive ever seen Burlington. Does anyone know if the Street Sweeper actually picks up the debris or does it just throw it onto the greenbelt?

@whatinfra I do believe the sweeper actually picks up the material. It definitely doesn't push it to the curb/greenbelt because quite often that is the cleanest part after a sweep. Usually there is a thin line of debris left down the middle of the bike lane, right between the two brushing wheels, which I always assumed was where the intake is on the sweeper so the thin line is whatever isn't sucked up.
