Description
See case number #180227-000130:
"Any requests to changes in signal timing should be submitted to Traffic."
This is me trying to do that.
Currently, with no loop detectors for bicycles yet installed, bicyclists have to wait for a car to get a green light east-west. Could we have the signal timing changed in the meantime so bicycles get a green light periodically? See #180123-000115 for my previous request to have this change made.
I would like a callback. Is there a way for me to leave a phone number without having it appear publicly along with this report?

"In consultation with Traffic, signal timing will not be changed as it has been optimized for vehicular movements. When the Fair Heights Bicycle Boulevard Project is completed, and the bicycle loop detectors are functional, this issue will be resolved."

This is an unacceptable solution, as there is no crosswalk button at all for eastbound bicyclists, forcing them to dismount, cross across traffic to the north side of the street, and then cross against traffic, going the wrong direction.
This creates an unsafe condition for bicyclists.

Thank you for submitting this request, it has been resolved. Notes:
-------
"Citizen was contacted to discuss the concerns noted in the 311 request.
The Fair Heights Bicycle Boulevard Project is not yet completed. The bicycle loop detectors will be installed within the coming months. Signs will be bagged until the loops become operational. Traffic signal timing will not be modified in the interim as changes at this intersection would affect the San Mateo corridor."
