The owner has constantly failed to comply with the city. This building has been like this for over 3 years. When the building was habitable, it was rented to people who didn't care about the property. People being busted for drugs, throwing dirty dish water out the top floor windows and even letting their children walk out onto the porch roof. Now it’s tenants are cats…. Having baby cats….
It needs to be torn down!

Progress was being made fixing the structure and maintain the property better than anyone had in the past 3+ years. No disputing the past, but an effort to inprove had been shown recently. The poorly timed stop work order put a screeching halt to that.

Permits aside, there is no possible way that this structure can now be renovated as it stands (barely). It needs to be demolished and if the property owners so desire, they can erect a new structure.

Yes, let's just ignore permits so that the illegal UNLICENSED workers can complete the job with faulty construction and it can burn down or collapse or better yet it stands and we can get some more drug dealers/welfare cases to move in and cause more problems in the neighborhood. It's just another case of absentee slumlord, who apparantly knows all the right people, because this has been getting reported to public safety for TEN years now!!!!!!

They should at least board all the openings up as there are about a dozen wild cats in the area that have free range of that house. I'm sure there are other people with cats inside the house that have these cat's peeing all over their house. I'm spending a lot of money trying to get rid of these wild cats off the property. If this house is condemned it needs to come down! I haven't seen one rabbit this year because of all of these wild cats.

People need to realize that just because a house is condemned does not mean it can be immediately demolished, there is a process involved. It takes a minimum of a year, most of the time longer, between notification and service of the owner, appeals process, court hearings, and lawyers. Unless the case is an immediate emergency (such as a fire structure which can collapse at any time), these things must be followed. Not to mention the cost the city incurs due to the demolitions.

So basically, even though it has been an dangerous, wildlife habitat for several years, it will actually take someone being endangered (neighbors, pedestrains or firefighters) before anything can be done LEGALLY......

It is a danger- whenever there is a storm- be it rain or wind- pieces of the siding come flying off- the last heavy rainstorm left the wood that is showing soaked and now it is starting to rot even more-someone is going to get injured just walking or driving by- would you want to be in a car when the siding comes flying off? There should be something that can be done. even boarded up would be better than the dangerous situation that now exists- calls have been made repeatedly to public safety and inspections but nothing has changed in the last 3months-except more siding off, more broken wood and more critters going in and out. I quess when someone is hurt then maybe---something might be done

So at this point nothing is being done? This whole thing has been another exercise in futility? Does anyone want to take a poll of how long it will take before the house actually just falls down damaging other people's property and leaving them with no recourse? I am saying within 10 months depending on the winter...... At least it appears that the momma cat and babies have been caught or moved on....

It's been months since anyone posted but as I see this structure frequently I thought I'd update.....oh wait....there's nothing to update about except for the fact that now the roof is basically gone....... I guess it will eventually collapse on it's own so no worries ...............

Well, yet another summer has gone by and nothing is being done........There is scaffolding up and at one point a few months back, a few guys came for a few days and attempted to put some shingles on the part of the roof that is still there. No one came along and told them that they had to stop wprking, they just did that on their own and haven't been back since.............. Anybody know what the next course of action would be???

Apparently not, the city finds it more cost effective to hedge their bets that they won't be sued when someone is hurt and is just waiting for it to disintegrate piece by piece. The city is called weekly and NEVER returns calls.

I'm guessing they are called more than once a week by more than one person as well.............

So I hear that this is slated to go down early in May. Let's hope so!

It's FINALLY down- now all that's left is deciding who is going to maintain the big pile of dirt and trees
