PAST COMMENTS:
Artsem is correct, the ROADWAY is not private property, I wish it were, because the owner would care more than the city. Thousands of cyclists from all over California come off the bridge every year and the second impression, after the nice Cal State Vallejo rec center, is "what a dump" the city of Vallejo is. The private property argument has been used repeatedly over the 2 years that I've been complaining, that is bull. Much of the trash is ON THE ROAD, and the rest......show me any property owner who is going to complain that trash is picked up from the front of their properties. Maybe the owners should be fined, but if so, take pictures and PICK UP THE TRASH !

You have got to be kidding me, not only did I call Code Enforcement yesterday about this, there’s only about six entries here on SeeClickFix referring to the giant pile of trash and garbage at the entrance of Vallejo on fifth street where the pin is on the GPS indicator. I can’t believe that you’re claiming you’re not aware of what is going on there.

kg, did you ever report this on SeeClickFix? If so do you remember what date? Good to know when this first was reported. It does not appear to be an active issue when I looked on the map, no pin sowed up. If you did report, it’s been archived away or handed over to code enforcement maybe.

i have been reporting this for at least 9 months now if not longer. as you know it is hard to find the original closed report.
this is the third time i have done the same area report and it has been happening the entire time i have been seeing this problem. i am sure since it does not really ever get cleaned up they just assume lets dump more here

I was able to search SCF archived/closed issues and this was reported by both you and Sean H., repeatedly going back as far as August 2017, and so many times before that by others (I stopped mid 1016). It's unclear how many times it was actually cleaned up or if it was closed and archived without fixing the issue....

Well thank goodness maybe things can change from all the blight there. Or maybe someone can do checks on that area all the time
It seems down the way there is a camp restarting again there.
Please notuce the problems since it has turned into 3 sections now and across the street also filling up again.
Thanks for the help on this

CLOSED Code Enforcement Division (Verified Official)
Thank you for reporting! Code Enforcement Officer Sidie and the CSS officers of the Vallejo Police Department have been working with California Northern Railroad (CNR) management to clean up the encampments along the railroad tracks that CNR is responsible for. This process may take some time as CNR is limited on time and funding for the clean-ups. Please direct any questions you may have to their general manager, Jake Harrison at jdharrison@gwrr.com or 530-406-8981. SeeClickFix is one of the many tools available to the citizens of Vallejo to report non-emergency issues. We “close” an issue in SeeClickFix once we've acknowledged the complaint; however, this issue is not "Closed" per se; it will remain an "Open" case with us until it is corrected. ok if this was done by me and Sean back till 2017 why has it never been cleaned up?? i mean all gone?? are you blaming the railroad now to do it?
i put one in for across the street that is starting to get dumped all the time and you sent me back a closed report saying you are working with the railroad on this the stuff on both sides of the street excepf for the encampment are not on the railroad tracks.
is this a reason never done. and what no funds to do it. why isn't Vallejo cleaning this up then?

Basically no one else is looking into these types of things as far as I can see. So if SCF is not going to work as a way to report issues and have them fixed, it can now become a record of the lack of services and attention. Sooner or later we will have a big stack of paperwork showing the sheer number of dropped issues, and that should go to the City Council.

Oh yes, another option is to just have the grounds crew clean it up keep track of how much time it takes and send them a bill. Better yet hold them to the same standards as property owners and code Enforcement can file warning letters, letters of violation and fine them!

In general the grounds crew does a stellar job of picking up illegal dumping, the problem occurs when somebody decides it’s not their responsibility (ie: Code Enforcement get involved), then it can be a very lengthy process. Someone with the city needs to give the direction to just get it done. Unfortunately, I hate to say it but what difference is a few hundred more pounds to the grounds crew? Then bill the railroad for their time.

CNR Railroad is owned by Genesee & Wyoming Inc. with 1.6 Billion in revenues. It is an American short-line railroad holding company that owns or maintains interests in 120 railroads throughout five countries (the United States, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Netherlands and the United Kingdom)
I don’t think they are short of $$$.

Thank you for reporting! The railroad company is currently working with the Code Enforcement/Community Services Division on determining a more permanent solution to this ongoing issue. As a result of their meeting earlier this month, the railroad company will commence with cleaning up its tracks within city limits next week. The tracks will be cleaned up in sections, starting with the spur at Lewis Brown Drive. SeeClickFix is one of the many tools available to the citizens of Vallejo to report non-emergency issues. We “close” an issue in SeeClickFix once we've acknowledged the complaint; however, this issue is not "Closed" per se; it will remain an "Open" case with us until it is corrected. If there is anything else we can assist you with, please let us know. Thank you for using SeeClickFix!
You always say starting next week. And here’s a novel idea- so many people have suggested before - don’t close this issue until it is really solved. You’ve closed it multiple times and there has been no resolution or improvement, just talk and heresy that the railroad will be commencing cleanup next week.
We were told by Christina in CSS that the railroad company was going to start cleaning up the tracks, starting at Sereno Drive (near Kaiser) on Wednesday, February 28, and would continue up to the Florida Street homeless encampment. I drove by the homeless encampment this morning (March 6) and the encampment is still there, but now its even bigger. I think we need more action and less words.
Thank you for your comment. The railroad company rescheduled their clean up date to today (March 6, 2018) due to a scheduling issue with their clean-up contractor. The California Northern Railroad is responsible for maintaining the tracks. The contact persons are Mr. Rob Myer and/or Mr. Jake Harrison (Rob’s manager) from the California Northern Railroad:
So this is at the end of the clean-up line? I suppose no way to tell how long it will be before the "contractor" makes it to this location? Now it's on "us" to contact the CNR Railroad.....
Took a look at the beginning of the homeless encampment clean up on the tracks today. It’s quite a sight. The have to use a back hoe & large garbage truck because the pile is so gigantic. Perhaps people running the city and the railroad will take note that letting the problem go without correction brings us to this point of ridiculous cleanup efforts. On a positive note at least I will say they have started cleaning up. Hopefully it won’t be like the Golden Gate bridge and by the time you finish painting one end then the other end is ready to start painting again.
