Description
Someone tore the posted no trespassing sign from the ground in the city owned lot near Booker Creek. The sign location is closest to 4th St near the creek. It would be helpful if additional no trespassing signs would be placed in the lot along the creek as well since transients continue to camp near the trees and leave a mess. These trees and brush should be cut back to discourage camping and other illegal activities.

This matter was investigated (on site) this morning by the Veterans, Homeless and Social Services Manager and referred to the City's Homeless Outreach Team (Police Officer and Social Worker) to further investigate the matter of transients, and offer assistance to those who may be present. They can connect them to shelter, food, and other assistance if they're willing. We will also coordinate with any other appropriate City departments to enforce the local ordinances and laws. “ assistance if they’re willing “. Unfortunately the vast majority don’t want assistance and that’s why they are there. So what are we doing about them?
Also it’s interesting you said “ We will coordinate with any other departments to enforce the local laws.“ yet when I actually copied and pasted the local statue that clearly says erecting structures on public or private property without permission is against the law, you replied in the same fashion, yet that structure and that man is still camping out on Duke Energy property off of 13th Ave., South between 4th Street and 3rd Street… If it’s against the law why hasn’t that been torn down and the man removed? Because he is “not willing“ the rest of us who go to work every day pay taxes and want to live in a clean neighborhood are subjected to his litter and his feces and squalor… I agree with the other posters here, the stock answers that this site and your organization continues to give is NOT solving the problem ! The city passes complaints to your organization , then you copy and paste the exact same message every time… AND NOTHING EVER CHANGES !!
Seriously, these complaints have been posted by multiple people for FIVE YEARS !! Stop patronizing us and do something!!!
