Well nothing is changing, this absolutely 100% should not be closed because it's still actively happening daily. If anything it's getting worse. I know you've parked patrols on the street a couple of times.. this is just making the people visiting the house park on 3rd ave now and walk over. With the events last night involving a stabbing and robbery downtown and eventually an arrest at THIS HOUSE I would think you'd step up the action even more. Our streets are filled with zombies because of this house, sleeping in our yards, shaking us down when we try to leave for work or school, having drug related issues on the sidewalks in broad daylight, fighting in the street, coming to our doors asking for money. It's just not right that nothing can be done to take care of this when EVERYONE knows what's going on. I expected more from GPD, especially since this is basically in your backyard as well.

Why did you reject my comment on this? There was not one thing that was not true in my comment. Why are you suppressing the voice of citizens who are concerned for their neighborhood??

If anything the activity at this house has gotten worse since GPD has become involved. There was an arrest at this address last night of someone that robbed and stabbed someone downtown. There are junkies sleeping in our yards, stealing from our cars/porches/yards, hassling us when we try to leave for school and work, coming to our doors for money, etc... When can we get some real action on this issue?

Suzanne - Our system automatically reviews content before it is posted to the public site. The word "drugs" in your comment triggered review; however, it has since been cleared for posting to the public site.

So in reply to the email notification I received, No. No this has not been resolved. There is a steady flow of junkies on 2nd Ave all coming and going from this house. I am very concerned about the well being of the owner, who is mentally impaired. There were some attempts to physically clean up waste from the property (although that seems to have stalled too), but as far as the drug activity nothing has changed. In fact, I would say it's gotten worse. There is now some sort of tent city for drug addicts/homeless people in the backyard, there are people from this property attacking the neighbors with air horns at 7 in the morning, they've successfully run off the decent people next door to them, there is STILL living room furniture on the front porch, there are still fights-arguments-drug reactions in the street out front of it daily, and the verbal attacks and negative interactions with the remaining neighbors are getting worse. It's not even a question of if, but when someone is going to be physically harmed by someone visiting this house. We feel like GPD and Codes have left our neighborhood at the mercy of these people. What can the City of Gainesville do to help us??

Still going strong. Say what you will about junkies but they are a tenacious bunch.
