Description
1019 Delwood cleaned up front yard but the backyard is an environmental hazard....including rodents...but mainly storage of potentially volatile substances including paint...they built a storage unit against my fence and it is filled w/chemicals...I referred this to code enforcement but it will take an onsite inspection to appreciate the magnitude of the problem...possibly hazardous waste folks can better assess the potential...

Doug, contact the Neighborhood Law Program and submit the intake form:
http://www.ci.vallejo.ca.us/city_hall/departments___divisions/city_attorney/neighborhood_law_program/
Also, keep a list of every contact you have had with the city of Vallejo employees. I assume you have discussed the issue with your neighbor. If so, document any conversations with your neighbor about this event, as well. Whatever you do, follow the law and keep pressing forward with your issue if you suspect that your neighbor's backyard harbors an environmental hazard to you and others. Just my opinion.

SUMMARY OF THE CODE ENFORCEMENT PROCESS
After a violation is reported, a code enforcement officer is assigned to conduct an inspection, make a determination as to whether the report is valid or unfounded, open up a case and issue warnings and notices when valid and allow approximately 30 days for correction. If the property is still found to be non-compliant following the time allotted for correction and a second inspection, the code enforcement officer will continue with enforcement, which could include the issuance of a notice of violation or administrative citation. If a property owner continues to remain non-compliant, the Code Enforcement Officer can determine whether or not to move forward with obtaining a warrant to have contractors abate (fix) the violations on the property. While the enforcement process moves forward, simultaneously on the financial side, the property is liened for any nonpayment after 30 days, late fees are imposed on unpaid citations, and any unpaid fines are then assessed onto the owner’s property taxes as a special assessment.
