The new exit ramp that takes drivers to Eisenhower Ave. from Telegraph Rd. and exits by the Holiday Inn Express, all three traffice lights are missing light bulbs, one can not tell if the lights are green, yellow or red. Why put up traffice lights that don't work in a busy cross road area?

Thanks for the note. This is interstate roadway section work as associated with the Woodrow Wilson Br. As such the City will send your comments to the state and federal project team. Also I would urge you to send your comments to the Woodrow Wilson Br website as they monitor their own website for feedback.

John,
Alexandria T&ES forwarded your comment to me this afternoon. I am the community relations manager for the Wilson Bridge Project.
I have been in touch with both the traffic engineer and construction manager about this intersection. While some adjustments have been made since the ramp opened up this past Friday, they confirm that the traffic lights should be working as planned. At no time since the ramp opening have the traffic lights stop working or have missed light bulbs.
Our construction manager pointed out that there are blinders on each of those traffic signals at that ramp so as to not confuse motorists at the intersection at the Holiday Inn and the ramp. These have been installed as a safety measure due to their close proximity. Motorists will only be able to see the traffic lights if they are directly in front of the light, in the proper lane. Thus, one should not be able to see any of the other lights from that location.
Today our construction manager went out to the ramp to ensure that the lights are all working per plan, which they are. Our staff is closely monitoring traffic flow in the area, and will adjust signals as needed.
Feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns.
Thanks,
Amy Wilson
