Mostly disintergrating patches on 24 mile with ALOT of ashphalt cracked area that will fail during the winter driving season. Oh well.

Our tax dollars NOT at work. Lets spend Shelby Twp tax dollars to widen Van Dyke instead, after all it parallels the expressway and needs widening...WHY... tell me again?

call Old Man Viar at the township hall. For a small fee, he can probably help you. But don't complain too much, because he might threaten to burn down your house.

This stretch of road is unbearable, I avoid it when I can, seriously it blew out one of my $500 Pirellis...

--- May 2013, a commercial trailer being towed by a truck broke their axle on west bound 24 Mile (west of Mound) and was stranded for about 2 hours.... Without the rough patchy repairs I think the trailer would not have broken its axle and the company would not have had the expense of repairs!

Can we really wait until Detroit Water runs their new water line down 24 Mile Rd, and with Detroit going BANKRUPT will that ever happen.

Time for the powers in Macomb County Gov't and Shelby Twp to get off their hind ends!

Someone tell me why the perfectly good asphalt on 25 Mile Road between Mound & Schoenherr is being repaved by the Macomb County Road Commission in 2014, but 24 Mile Road with its horrible "Patch over Patch over another Patch" are being ignored?

The 24 Mile Road Intersections at Mound and at Shelby Road and at Dequindre are among the worst I have seen in the area... yet year over year Shelby Township continues to do "Nothing".

I do hope that at the next township election, that all those residents that border 24 Mile Rd will DENY THE INCUMBENTS permission to place their political signs on their property. It will be the old "What have you done for me lately!". Well Nothing except for blown tires, bent rims and broken axles!

I believe I read they (Macomb county road) were waiting for Detroit Water to do repairs on the water main that is under 24 Mi Rd thus letting them pay for some if not all of the repaving.

After several years of delays, a massive project is scheduled to kickoff this summer in Shelby Township that will add a second water main to 24 Mile Road, and replace the portion of the roadway that runs between Dequindre and Romeo Plank roads.
"Our residents have been very patient as this project is a longtime coming after several setbacks," said Shelby Township Supervisor Richard Stathakis. "That is why I am very happy to report now that we are past those setbacks, and there will be shovels in the ground on this project this summer."
According to township officials, the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department will install a second 42-inch diameter water main along 24 Mile Road, which will run parallel to the existing 36-inch water main.
According to Stathakis and DWSD Director Sue McCormick, the 820-day project could take up to three construction seasons to complete and will be paid for using funds from the DWSD, without impacting the township's general fund.
"It's going to be a busy summer around here, and I thank our residents and taxpayers in advance for their patience," Stathakis said. "But, true to our Board of Trustees' commitment that dates back to 2008, we will not turn down any possibilities to improve the roads in the township."
In addition to the 24 Mile Road project, the township will also see work on Hayes Road between 21 Mile and 23 Mile roads, Van Dyke between 25 Mile and 26 Mile roads, and possibly 25 Mile Road from Van Dyke to Mound Road.
"We are even working with the county to pave Hayes Road from 25 Mile to 26 Mile roads as soon as possible," Stathakis said.
When asked about a potential timeline for the 24 Mile Road project, and whether it will involve road closures, Stathakis said additional details will be released as they become available during the next few weeks.
"And as that information becomes available, we will coordinate a town hall meeting for our residents here at township hall with representatives from our township engineer, the DWSD's contractor and any other pertinent parties on hand to answer any and all of our residents' concerns and questions," he added.
