As we understand it; WSDOT has no imminent plans to vacate their operations center at 4200 Main. There is rampant speculation at the Lincoln NA level in regards to when that would be vacated and then what happens to the parcels once vacated. The idea of expanding a park space in that vicinity is a longstanding idea and surfaced with significant interest during the CRC project evaluation of a possible P-n-R at that location.

Given the City’s water well which abuts the WSDOT property in that vicinity, I think it would be prudent to examine what should happen to portions of that site if vacated by WSDOT. The site is currently zoned R-22.

In sum; we have no direct knowledge of short term WSDOT plans in regards to that site. If and when that site is vacated by WSDOT, it would be prudent to look at the WSDOT site relative to the City’s interests in the water well station.
