40th avenue literally has a line removal rut from end to end from the costly bike lane fiasco.

Assign pothole repair crews by quadrants and get busy! The holes are getting big enough to start damaging vehicles and may even cause accidents with people swerving to avoid them.

The Stretts of Red Deer are pure embarrassment! I cannot believe they have allowed our roads to get to this state. When they do try to fix bad spots it looks like they stood around chewing gobs of bubblegum and pounded it in the hole. Visitors to our City must look around and say I wouldn't live here for all the rice in China. Really...where to the tax dollars go? Art, Culture and other Stupid designs that should never be allowed to happen. I certainly hope the new Council elected in October have more brains than who is in there now.

The city committed 800,000 to bike lanes in 2012 and they have comitted 300,000 this year to pot hole repair.It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out what is most important to the city council and management.

Yes! Fix our roads and scrap the bike lanes. How many times does council have to be told to get their priorities straight. Our infrastructure is a disgrace and Council should be embarrassed. Another thing that really annoys me is the lack of left hand turn lights in this city. Then that is bad enough...they turn them off! The intersection of 30th Ave. and 32nd street, along with 40th Ave and 32nd street are nightmares. I actually spoke to a city engineer last year regarding the lack of lights and their bad timing. I was told, Oh..we are installing a left hand turn light on 19th Street so people can have a turn light to get into South Point Common. But they only turn it on during the Christmas shopping rush. What a joke! That is an extremely busy intersection on both sides. Wal-Mart is almost impossible to turn left into during rush hour. If you are going to bother installing left hand turn lights could you at least leave them on cycle till midnight? This city is growing leaps and bounds and the traffic congestion at these intersections is becoming unmanageable. That is why at lest 3 people run the left hand turn lights into the red cycle which is then shortening the time the people on the green lights have to get through the intersections themselves. I refuse to try to turn left on a yellow light, because that is when everyone is running them going the other direction. Then they wonder why all these stupid accidents happen in the first place.

I've re-opened this issue as this is a bigger issue than ~one~ pot-hole on 48th. (I really don't have the time to post every pot-hole in this city, but there are several on 48th alone, including the other biggish one the work crew drove by to repair the worst one.) The larger issues are the priorities this City seems to have. The general state of dis-repair is only the tip of the ice-burg. I am glad to see that my posting sparked some feed-back. Is the City listening?

I doubt the City is listening. Especially when it comes to the overall infrastructure. They would rather put bubblegum in the potholes and just ignore the big problems. What else is new with City Council. Can't WAIT for the next election and I hope the city residents are paying attention and listening to the candidates running this time. It is so fortunate that MoFlew is stepping down, he has run his course. Please will someone with a backbone please run for the Mayor Position and help get this beautiful city of ours back on track.

I've thought the same thing. I for one, will be paying much more attention to the upcoming election than i ever have in the past. Given a thought or two to running for council myself, though I've got no qualifications at all. Somehow, I doubt that that could be worse than the current crop of councilors. I think Joe Red Deer should run. He'd have MY vote!

While discussion is always encouraged, the best way to see real improvement is by reporting *specific*, solvable issues rather than general, open-ended complaints.

@ Public Works: no, sorry, this issue ISN"T closed. The roads in our fair town are still in very bad shape. Without engaging in too much hyperbole; they SUCK. And I for one, would like to know why that has been allowed to happen. We still haven't heard any real response to that question. The City's got money. The development downtown and the misadventure of the bike lanes attests to that. Why have our roads been allowed to deteriorate to the state they are in?

I'm closing this, mostly because I'm sick of getting notifications, not because I've seen any real action, and the City hasn't used this site in about a year. Sad. At the time of writing this, I've began the process of selling my house and am beginning to do a job search in a different province. I've had enough of this crappy, poorly managed red-neck town.
